Reviews of Jump Desktop (RDP, VNC, Fluid)

  • Such great app and such great customer support

    By sdauggie
I hadn't been using my Mac for a while. Then I tried to use Jump Desktop again and had some issue. Wrote these guys and they replied almost immediately. The offered a solution in no time and I'm pluging along. Turns out the issue was on my side. Not enough good things to say about the company and software. The biggest plus though is that this programme should cost 300 dollars no the 30 misley bucks you pay for it. Thank you Phase Five Systems!!!
  • Sometimes Dropped

    By MniMud
Thanks for the opportunity to review. Up until recently there were times when the remote connection was dropped repeatedly, with a session only lasting a few minutes before the key entries no longer responded and the reconnection process was repeated. overandoverandover... Happily, I haven't had that problem for the last week or 10days.
  • Constantly Used App

    By Meyers.Family
I have used this app since about 2009 to connect my iPad to my Windows 7 PC that had my clinic electronic health records on it. It worked great at that time, but the current and constant improvements have really turned this app into a great app to manage other computers from my main desktop. It has also been very helpful to help others with questions on family history work, etc.. I no longer use Microsoft Remote Desktop to access my last Windows PC.
  • So much better than MS version

    By K9fto
I used the Microsoft version for years and a friend recommended this to me to fix a multiscreen application. It is so much more responsive and the multi screen support is great. Havent had any issues running it on any of my Macs!
  • Great App for Mac to Windows RDP connections

    By chirojunky
It just works. No fuss, no issues. Great for RDP to Windows based clients. Great for connecting to my iMac as well.
  • Crashing

    By Jjbsbll
Everytime now that i close my macbook with one of the remote instances, when I open the macbook the program doesnt respond to the point where I have to force close it. This is an issue and needs to be addressed. Thanks.
  • No microphone redirection

    By Tozar199
A real big problem is there's no microphone redirection when RDP into a Microsoft box. I haven't used this app for much as most of my RDP are into MS desktop/server. I just keep using Microsoft Remote Desktop on my macbook pro for MS connections. This seems like a "problem" for at least 2-3 years now so I don't have much hope it'll be added in the future. Strange why it hasn't been fixed/added because most would think that would be a useful feature.
  • Terrible, terrible documentation

    By alanattcc
The only help appears to be the website. Its a disorganized mess of articles with no logical flow. I have two macs and a PC. I am able to remote into the PC from both Macs, but I cannot find any way to remote from one Mac to the other. I tried installing Jump Desktop Connect on one of the Macs - however, it doesn't seem to do anything and the statement that you can go to your account and find the link appears to be wrong. The app has numerous options and I'm sure I should be able to do what I want, so its even more frustrating that the documentation is so poor. On the plus side, when it works, its very good in terms of perforamance and stablity, so that's why I've given it two stars - otherwise it would be 1.

It does what it says it would. I helped my elderly mother remotely. She has a PC, I have a MAC. I was able to get in and work with the kinks that her PC had. I fixed everything while she watched in amazement. On these days of pandemic that our parents show little computer skills, this app comes as a lifeline to them.
  • Works Really Well

    By Mikmsg
This remote access solution works really well for me. Easy to install and to manage. Recommended!

    By horseygirl6
i used this app years ago and bought it again. When this app works it is five stars all the way. Setup is easy once you understand how this works. I needed to speak to customer support because i was getting so frustrated. We concluded that directions needed to be clearer to the user. We resolved my issue and support was fantastic helping me and my 87 year old dad. Let me tell you something with setup: 1. You Google Jumpdesktop connect to first install the software which lets you access your computer. This is the software you download one time on each computer that you will want to access remotely. Once you set that up, you got to step 2. Step 2 is download deskjump app. You follow the prompts. Once you have jump desktop, you can then access the computer you previoulsy downloaded jump desktop connect on. Another issue i had was with the name of the computer. If you don’t have the name exactly right, you can have an issue logging in. So, when you are in your dashboard of jump desktop, right click the computer you want to access. You will see a user name and then you might see a different computer name. The computer name is the name of the computer and then you use the password on that computer to login. If you have Catalina, you might have a few extra steps. They have instructions for Catalina. I said a mouthful, but it is actually easy if you do steps #1 and #2 in that order. Buy it is worth it.
  • Works!

    By Dex110
Super simple, inexpensive Remote Desktop application. I use this when helping my mom with IT issues from across the country. Only once license is needed. The remote machines you control use a free lightweight client the person downloads locally. The Personal Connection pin number makes setup super easy. Had some odd keyboard behavior where I could type in web browsers but not in spotlight search boxes- minor issue, easily worked around- otherwise stable, responsive, inexpesive and easy to use!!! Thank You for making this!
  • Great App, Small Annoyances

    By scottdavid775
This is the best RDP app for Mac I've seen. It's a great replacement for mRemote, which my windows-based team uses. The only thing that annoys me is probably not solely Jump Desktop's fault, but the abiliy to copy/paste files from my remote machine to local sometimes doesn't work. It copies a blank 0KB file instead so we don't initially realize it hasn't worked... likewise, sometimes the drive mappings don't hold and have to restart app. Not a major issue. Also, should've seen this app was on Setapp first before buying. Oh well.
  • Highly reccomended

    By sqwcv
Using Jump on a Mac — >have to say this is the best RD solution I have used. While using Jump I feel no difference when working remotely compared working locally... except that my smart cards do not work. I would have given Jump 5 stars if there were support for redirecting smart cards like there is in MS Remote Desktop. As this feature is missing I always have to switch over to Microsoft Remote desktop which is not optimal :-(Hoping for an update where this issue is solved — then I will give Jump 5 stars :-)
  • It just works!

    It just works!

This is the best remote desktop program bar none. Have tried all of them, and JumpDesktop is by far the best. The customer support is lightning fast and excellent. You never need to use it though. Program keeps getting better and better and features are evolving each release.
  • Better than Microsoft by miles.

    By Hunterzyph
I've been using Jump Desktop for years and it has been an invaluable part of my toolkit managing, troubleshooting, and supporting a wide range of systems in my IT career. It's the simplicity and reliability of the platform that speaks volumes.
  • Kept on asking for a review

    Good product otherwise.
  • Best RDP app

    By aryarovira
I have been using this app for about 6 years. It is second to none. If you are serious abour RDP/VNC, this is the app to get. Full powerl iOS apps and an amazing Mac app. A must for anyone with RDP needs
  • Love it

    By arnj
Been using Jump for major sysadmin tasks for years now. I'm a Mac guy in a mega-Windows server world! It's done nothing but get better over the years. Nice!
  • great program

    By blobybar
great program but sick of it keep asking me to rate it after I already did.
  • Awesome way for a Mac to hit a PC at work

    By DTTerastar
Rdp works awesome. Fluid is good as long as the number and sizes of the monitors between client and server are the same (not often). There are some other multimonitor related bugs, but this is still the best solution i've found.
  • Perfect for RDP/VNC on Mac

    By Crostiphex
I actually don't use this app's many features, like Fluid; I mainly just use RDP and VNC connections. I just felt like the normal Windows Remote Desktop app was not performing as nice as I wanted it. This just has a simple and effective UI making window management and connection management easy. I'm connecting to around 10 computers all the time so that was important to me, along with tagging. The only problem is that they actually don't have RDP for the windows 10 version and I really find that to be a shame because I can't use one product everywhere. (I don't wish to use the other options for now) But I use this soley on my MacBookPro and iPhone.
  • very good.

    pretty good.
  • Great program

    By jtsroka
Use JumpDesktop on my iPads / iPhone / MacBook to access my MacMini at home and my office PC when on the road. Program is stable fast and easy to use. Only wish it had file transfer built in, but I get around this using OneDrive.
  • Reliable

    By cnieves
everytime i connect it works. even when the desktop ip changes. it has intelligence on it. but i wish the sound will transmit better. but it makes the desktop remotely useful. i like it. more than Microsoft RDP update iwth the new verison update the sound comes in perfect from the remote computers. i have really not found any other problems wiith it. it works perfeclty.
  • Fast and reliable

I have used Jumpdesktop for years and continue to find it to be excellent. It is fast and reliable. The are always improving the product and making it better. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a RDT solution.
  • Just waste of money!!

    By Reza_rn
This app is working so slow in a freezing condition. It is just waste of money. The free microsoft remote desktop is better than this!
  • A life-saving program

    By ride4laurie.info
I use the mac os, ipad os, and ios versions of this to connect from work to my home machine, and from my home machines to my Windows VM at the office. Flawless integration. To really blow someone's mind, plug an HDMI adapter into your iPhone to connect it to a monitor and to a Windows PC.... One thing I do miss is the ability to use the phone as a pure trackpad when plugged in to an external monitor and paired with a bluetooth keyboard. (and i wish the iPad version had the same feature)
  • Urgent response

    By oluwabombo
Hello Admin, I have been having issues with my jump app. i tried connecting and it says the computer has closed the remote session.. I really dont understand what this means, Please i need your urgent response
  • Credential List? Menu bar icon?

    By ChrysB
So I love this software - I like the simplicity of it. I would, however, like to see two additions. I'm lucky enough to be able to use my mac as an engineer in a corporate environment, and with that, have to change my administrative password every 30 days or so - always has to be a fairly long password. As such, it would be great if I could change the username and password in ONE spot vs. changing it on every entry. Just a thought . Secondly, it would be nice to have a menu bar icon for Jump that will give you a list of systems to connect to with one click.
  • Great App!

    By st0rmw0rm
Two things id like to see is the ability to change screens on a multi monitor setup using a swipe on the magic mouse and the ability to make set an attended password instead of using a user account on the machine your trying to get too.
  • Waste of MONEY!

    By MysticMaven
HUGE waste of money! You can't view the remote computer at external monitor resolutions, only built in screen resolution! So I'm stuck viewing my macbook air at 1440x900 on my 5k iMac. Even Microsoft Remote Desktop allow me to view my PC at 5k resolution. DO NOT BUY THIS!
  • Fantastic App!

Makes all other VNCs look like GARBAGE
